Instagram is a program that runs on both Apple and Android mobile devices. The business has identified its mission statement as being to capture and share the world’s minutes it does so by enabling its users to snap photos with their mobile phone cameras and then share them online. When Facebook bought Instagram for 1 billion, they did it for one Sole purpose: to assist Facebook expand into the mobile market segment. Facebook was struggling to catch a part of the ever growing market. Instagram product managers have a real challenge before them. The secret to their success is to rethink their product development definition and find a way to add advertisements to their program in a manner that does not anger or upset their existing base of consumers.
The first step that the product managers have obtained is to catalogue all the brand marketers that are currently using Instagram at no cost. This is an excellent work and they can probably add it to their product manager restart. The product managers are now sitting down with these firms to determine how they could make advertisements on Instagram even more valuable to them. The challenge they face is that if the advertisements on the program become too in your face, then they risk driving their base of customers away.
What are still missing from the product manager’s bag of tricks are the qualitative tools that they are going to have to make selling ad space successful and have to see private instagram. These tools will allow advertisers to determine the reach and the effectiveness of the Instagram marketing efforts. The long-term goal needs to be to keep things easy for the end users. If they make things too complex, then their product would not be successful. There’s no doubt about it: Instagram is a very popular social media service. But they have a massive problem: right now they do not have any way to generate money. Facebook did not invest 1 billion dollars to purchase Instagram simply because they liked how it looked. They want it to generate income. Changes will need to happen.
Instagram product managers possess a delicate Balance they have to attack that was not discussed in their product manager job description. On one hand they must keep Instagram clean layout which has attracted 150M users. On the other, they have to begin to add ads so the company can earn money. Among the biggest challenges is that lots of companies are using Instagram free of charge to market their products. The goal of the Instagram product managers must be to keep things simple. Avoiding overloading their customers with splashy ads whilst still providing the eyeballs that their advertisers covet are the trick to Instagram success.
